About the Event:
The authors will recount the life journey of the man whose name Yale University bears, from his birth in Boston, to his travels to London and Madras, where he traded in diamonds and precious jewels for the East India Company, rising from a clerk to eventually becoming governor. The book recounts the varied interests of Elihu Yale including his hobbies and cultural and artistic inclinations. It is a detailed compilation of these little-known facts and anecdotes about ‘Father Yale’ – both intriguing and an inseparable part of the historical narrative of Yale University’s founding.
N.B. The YCL has secured a discount on the book for its members (£18 including postage to UK mainland addresses versus £24.95 RRP). To avail of this offer, please contact the distributor Littlehampton Book Services on 01903 828503, quoting reference: TH248. Offer is subject to availability and runs until 31 December 2014.
No books will be sold at the event as this is against the policies of The East India Club; however, you may bring your own copy of the book to the event for a signing by the authors, if you wish to do so.
Spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
