Two student-led startups have been admitted into the Global Social Venture Creation Program—a program offered by the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute (YEI) in collaboration with InnovateHealth Yale and funded in part by two Yale School of Public Health alumni.
YEI’s Venture Creation Program (VCP) provides education, mentorship and $1,000 in funding to early-stage startups at Yale. The Global Social VCP provides an additional $2,200 in funding to allow social ventures working abroad to travel to the country where they will be working.
“Without this, I would not have had the travel expenses to go to Uganda during the holiday break to do more customer discovery,” says Dan Edoma (SOM ’17), cofounder of J-Health, one of the Global Social VCP teams. His cofounder is Dr. Stella Oloo, a lecturer at the University of Namibia School of Medicine.
